“A Life-Changing Experience”

I recently went to ADHD Advisor to get diagnosed with ADHD, and I'm so glad I did. From my first appointment to getting my diagnosis and managing my medication, everything was smooth and easy. The staff was friendly and really understood what I was going through. They listened to me and made sure my treatment was just right for me. My clinician has been great, always there to help me adjust my medication and answer my questions. I truly appreciate how much they care and the difference they've made in my life.

"Legitimate ADHD services"

No upselling here. I was assessed in 15 minutes and determined not to have the ADHD. Trust this service. I was not sure, but the experience has corroborated my trust. The therapist was courteous, prompt, and thorough.

“My experience was fantastic!”

My clinician did an excellent job of framing the diagnostic picture and different algorithms of a plan of care integrating both therapy and medication. I needed a lot of redirection as I tend to wander in answering questions, and the clinician was both tactful and effective at narrowing my responses to the intention of the visit.

Types of ADHD Medication

ADHD medications fall into two main categories: stimulants and non-stimulants. Both types help manage symptoms, but their effectiveness and side effects may vary.

Stimulants vs Non-Stimulants

Stimulants and non-stimulants are the two primary types of ADHD medications, each with distinct mechanisms and benefits.

Stimulant medications for ADHD

Stimulants are the most commonly prescribed and work by increasing levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, leading to improved focus and reduced hyperactivity. They are known for their quick effectiveness but may have side effects like insomnia and increased heart rate. Adhdadvisor.org can currently only offer stimulant medication in select states, including Washington.

Non-Stimulant medications for ADHD

Non-stimulants offer an alternative for those who do not respond well to stimulants or prefer a different approach. They work by supporting focus and emotional regulation through different brain pathways and generally have a milder side effect profile. Non-stimulants may take longer to show benefits but provide a viable option for sustained symptom management without the potential stimulant-related side effects.

Note: Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best medication for your needs and to understand potential side effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have ADHD?

While many individuals are able to recognize and track potential ADHD symptoms in their own behavior, a formal clinical diagnosis is necessary to begin treatment. That’s why we always recommend connecting with a licensed mental health professional for a proper evaluation.

You can start the process by taking our online assessment at ADHDAdvisor.org. From there, you’ll be able to schedule a consultation with a licensed provider who will review your symptoms and determine whether an ADHD diagnosis is appropriate.

How do I pay for ADHD telehealth?

We offer transparent rates, accept HSA/FSA, and support some insurance plans and Texas Medicaid. Insurance coverage will depend on individual provider, ADHDAdvisor will provide a superbill post-purchase that can be submitted to insurance providers.

How long will it take to receive my diagnosis?

For most patients, a diagnosis is provided by the mental health clinician at the end of the initial appointment. However, if the clinician needs more time to gather information or if the results are inconclusive, additional sessions may be required to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

What are the next steps after my diagnosis?

Should you be diagnosed with ADHD, the provider who conducted your assessment will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and life goals. Our treatment options may include Medication Management and Therapy to support you every step of the way.

Is this process confidential?

We are 100% safe and confidential with your information, using bank-level encryption. We are fully HIPAA compliant. The information you share is protected by the same doctor-patient privilege you would expect in an office visit.

Which conditions are screened during the diagnosis appointment?

While we specialize in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), our therapists have experience with all sorts of mental health conditions and needs. If you're seeking treatment for something other than ADHD, schedule an appointment, and we'll help you find what you need. We are able to offer services to individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD or executive function struggles.

How do I meet with my provider?

All visits will be conducted via a secure video conferencing platform.

How much is ongoing treatment?

This depends on your needs, but our standard Medication Management and Therapy subscription plans are $130 per month. If you and your therapist decide you'd benefit from additional sessions, those can be purchased and scheduled as well.

What medications can you prescribe?

In addition to therapy-based treatment plans, we offer medication management for ADHD. This includes both non-stimulant options (such as Strattera or Qelbree) and stimulant medications (such as Adderall or Vyvanse), when clinically appropriate.

Our comprehensive range of treatment options is thoughtfully designed to provide a holistic solution for managing ADHD effectively and empowering individuals to thrive.

How often will I meet with my provider?

After your initial appointment, you will receive a personalized plan where you will decide the frequency of appointments that is appropriate for your needs.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We understand that things happen. If you need to cancel an appointment, please reach out to our support team at support@adhdadvisor.org In order to receive credit for a canceled appointment, we require 24 hour notice.

What if my pharmacy states that they have not received my prescription?

Please send an email to support@adhdadvisor.org. We will respond within 24 hours (Monday through Friday)

Who should I contact if I have questions about my medical records?

Please send an email to support@adhdadvisor.org.
