Dr. LeMeita Smith, PhD, LPC, is a Chief Operating Officer for a major healthcare and psychiatric services provider and manages a private therapy practice. She has worked in various mental health settings such as hospitals, clinics, private practice, and mental health start-ups. A major focus of her work has been acute stabilization, anxiety and insecure attachment management, competency restoration, and helping clients develop healthy coping skills and emotional regulation. Her work has been featured in various publications including Women’s Health Magazine, Healthline, Parents.com, AskMen, Tiny Beans, Fatherly, Sleepopolis, and more.
Dr. Smith has a PhD in Forensic Psychology from Walden University, Master of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Addictions from Kaplan University, and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Texas Christian University where she was a student-athlete and 4-year volleyball letterman. She is trained in Competency Restoration, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Her interest in psychology began at a young age in observing her father’s struggles with mental health issues as a byproduct of his military service. As part of her desire to identify ways that she could help she garnered a passion for understanding the mind-body connection and ways to support herself, family, and others with similar struggles. In both her personal and professional life Dr. Smith is an advocate for mental health partnering with various community organizations, educational institutions, and athletic programs to increase accessibility to services and reduce health disparities, which she identifies as her life mission.
